*STABLE VISIT - We will be holding an exclusive stable visit to Richard's Musley Bank Stables on the morning of SATURDAY 12th MAY. If you would like to come and see this colt, please email email@example.com to book your place.*
Purchased at THE sale for 2-year-old winners, the Goffs Premier Yearling Sale, this colt is by DRAGON PULSE, the highest ever rated 2 year old by Kyllachy. Standing at the Irish National Stud, read his full stallion details here: https://irishnationalstud.ie/stallion/dragon-pulse/
Here at MPR we are always looking for an edge - trying to find sire’s who produce the goods, but who are maybe off one or two agents’ radars, which can represent fantastic value for our owners. Although a very young sire, we have been very impressed by the progress of Dragon Pulse. Although not afforded hundreds of mares to cover in his first and second seasons, we feel he has very much punched above his weight, siring Group winner Aethos and Legendary Lunch amongst dozens of other winners. From only his 2 crops to see the racecourse he has already produced 13 horses with a rating of 90+. With 5 black type horses to his name too, he looks set to be a sire to be on the right side of and has had an incredible start to 2018. With over 20 wins already and only 2 months into the year, the sire looks set to have a very exciting year ahead. He has an outstanding 60% winners to runner’s ratio, making him leading sire in Europe in 2018 by percentage of winners to runners. With this colt, we have a horse who the stars aligned on. On both team Fahey and team MPR’s short list at the sale and when both parties identified this lovely colt at the top of both of our lists it’s a match made in heaven. He reminded us both of our three-time winner Ventura Dragon (featured in the news stories on the right) and it’s no coincidence that he is both by the same sire and from the same sale as him. We were delighted to secure this powerful, good walking colt who not only is the most impressive physical specimen, but is half-brother to no fewer than 5 winners including a 105 rated and listed placed Furia Ceca. He has the size and physique to be a real 2 year old type for his owners, who shouldn't have to wait long into the season to be on the racecourse and in the winners’ enclosure.
Trainer Update: (23rd April) He went up the grass on Saturday and he worked extremely well indeed, he finished at the head of the gallop. Richard was delighted with what he saw and he is ready for an entry as soon as we name him.
Richard says that he is "a lovely moving colt who is answering every question that I am throwing at him". He is the perfect type of horse to be involved in as you’ll have some fun during the first half of his two year old career but he will progress as the distances he is competing over increase. He possesses a wonderfully lengthy yet elegant stride and is the spitting image of both his sire and also our 3 year old son of Dragon Pulse, Ventura Dragon* and it would be no surprise to see him following in his hoof steps.
We look forward to seeing him at our next stable visit on May 12th-please do come and join us if you would like to see this colt.
*Ventura Dragon won his third race for us at Doncaster on March 25th.
