Purchased at THE sale for 2 year old's; the Goffs Premier Yearling Sale, this colt is by DANDY MAN. Here's a great interview with Joe Foley from Ballyhane Stud on Dandy Man: http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/lifes-just-dandy-for-foley/#.W7MPRBAPoGI.twitter
One of the toughest, proven Group winning producing sires in Europe is Dandy Man. He imparts three things into his progeny, speed, class and precocity; surely the ideal recipe for a horse to go into training with Richard Hannon?
Combine that with a stunning, strong, well balanced, good sized and good moving, good limbed individual and we could really be onto something (take a look at his walk and profile video on this page.) This colt has a fabulous black type pedigree, which means numerous family members competed at Listed and Group level, which suggests that our colt could well be up to competing at a similar level. If this were the case and taking on board all the above information, it would be little surprise to see him compete in races at Royal Ascot and/or the Qatar (Glorious) Goodwood Festival during his 2yo campaign in 2019.
We rarely spend as much as £85,000, so it's a real testament to this horse, his pedigree and physique that we stretched that far in the auction ring at the very best sale for 2yo winners, Goffs U.K. Premier Sale (formerly Doncaster Premier). This year alone, Doncaster has provided the Group 1 winning Advertise and the multiple Group 1 winner Laurens. It's a sale where we've bought Champions (Toormore) and our own Group winners too; such as Kool Kompany.
He's a colt who should be early and should be classy, or at least we'd very much hope that would be the case. He is 'Plus 10 Bonus' registered. Read about the benefits here: https://www.plus10bonus.com/
Trainer Update (10th Dec'): We saw him at our stable visit at the weekend cantering and he really was the 'eyecatcher' of the day, with now just 5% of shares remaining. He is a strong looking colt and looks a real 2yo type who the yard really like, in fact both Richard Hannon Senior and Junior have taken shares in him. If that's not a positive sign, then we can't think what is! (See the new photo of him and a short video of him in the paddock.)
