This very fast son of the all-conquering sire Mehmas, was an expensive purchase at 130,000gns last Summer. He was the fastest breezer ‘ever’ since timings began over the final 3f of the Rowley Mile breeze up course.

Approximately 150 horses galloped down the final 2.5 furlongs of Newmarket’s Rowley Mile course at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up sale, advertising their wares to would be suitors in attendance. The Craven Breeze Ups are the country’s and arguably Europe’s ‘premier’ Breeze ups sale, having produced countless Group 1 winning horses over the years, including our two, quite recent purchases, Group 1 winners DONJUAN TRIUMPHANT (Richard Fahey) and VENTURA STORM (Richard Hannon). It’s a tried and tested venue for ourselves and international buyers alike.

Effectively, the process is a race against the clock to procure a hierarchy of ability, rather like a time trial in cycling or a downhill skiing race. In such events, there is always a WINNER, i.e. the one who completes the course in the fastest time, and we are delighted to report that this sensational son of the leading first season sire MEHMAS, was the fastest time on the day, and we are led to believe that 2 of the 2.5 furlongs, over which he was timed, were the fastest, back to back furlongs, since timings began, around 8 years ago, at the Craven Breeze Ups sales.

Here's Robert with an update on him after he arrived in Newmarket:

Racing Update: Clarendon House is your opportunity to experience ownership at the very highest level. This 4-year-old sprinter has improved in each of the past 3 seasons. Having already won over £62K in prize money, and achieved an RPR of 109, he has competed in top races such as the King George Qatar Stakes at Glorious Goodwood (Group 2) and in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York (Group 1). Sprinters tend to improve with age and progressing by 10 pounds would see him go very close in group races. Indeed, a victory in a Group 1, or even in a couple of Group 2 or 3 races, would make this son of Mehmas of great interest as a potential stallion. Who better than the sprint specialist, Robert Cowell, to bring about this improvement. A share in Clarendon House could take you to the best meetings across the country in 2023, such as Glorious Goodwood, or to compete in the Nunthorpe Stakes again at York. He has finished 1st or 2nd in over half of his races and his front running style is sure to give any owner a thrill come race day. With just one 2.5% share available, act fast because, like Clarendon House himself, this one will go fast! TIMEFORM RATED 111.
