We love a sales race

Winner 53 of 2025: SONG OF THE CLYDE, trained by Clive Cox and ridden by Rossa Ryan. ‘Harry's Half Million By Goffs’ at York over 6f, winning £338,821.69 by doing so.
MPR won this race in 2022, Clive won the Harry’s Half Million in 2023 & 2024. In the 2025 renewal, Clive and MPR lined up together for the very first time. We couldn’t – or could we?
Song Of The Clyde had his owners in full voice as he stormed home the winner of the Harry’s Half Million sales race.
Breaking well from stall ten, Rossa Ryan gave him an uncomplicated and straightforward ride; he was quickly into stride and headed to the front of the field. Ruby Walsh very much summed it up perfectly: the shortest way home is in a straight line, and that’s exactly what his Arc-winning jockey did, keeping it simple, travelling powerfully throughout the race, but the exciting part certainly came when the eventual second travelled upsides, but our fella was having none of it. He stuck his head out and found another gear to win going away, hitting the line hard and taking an age to pull up, giving the impression that he’ll stay a bit further again.
He looked sensational in the parade ring, plenty of size and scope and just the type you’d expect to see more from next year. ITV’s Francesca Cumani, as well as Racing TV’s Nick Luck, couldn’t agree more, pointing him out as the best looking and most impressive, physically, among the 21 runners, who was also incredibly relaxed in the prelims, and took to the occasion so well.
Our son of Sergei Prokofiev shed his maiden tag at Chester in good style back in June, before finishing a close second to Gimcrack-fifth Egoli on Weatherby’s Super Sprint race day at Newbury.
A brilliant 4 runners in total for our owners in the valuable Harry’s Half Million, with our Weatherby’s Super Sprint Queen Anthelia running a solid race, finishing a strong closing 5th, Saffron Dandy running incredibly well for a long way and only to fade in the final half furlong to finish just outside the money.
We will be heading to the sales next week to team up again (to try and secure next year's winner!)

Timeform rated his sensational victory with a 94+, saying: "Improved to scoop a big pot, always in the firing line and finding plenty; prominent, led under pressure over 1f out, responded well; he's entered in a similar event at Doncaster's St Leger meeting and the extra ½f of that race won't pose him any problems."
