Waarif wins again at Windsor

WAARIF is yet another David O'Meara trained H-I-T purchase, who is proving superb value for his syndicate. We bought him as a four year old in 2017 for £23,000 and he has since gone on to win 6 races for his owners, proving a model of consistency, by being in the winners enclosure for 18 of his 29 races in our colours.

Having won at Windsor in May over 10 furlongs, he returned to the track yesterday, this time over the mile. It was a scorcher of a day with temperatures reaching 35 degrees, so keeping in the shade for horses and owners alike was a very good choice! Yesterday's race was for 3 year old's and up, with the 3yo’s receiving a 10lbs weight for age allowance; so certainly not straightforward! However, jockey Robbie Downey rode a great race, going forward, but not taking on the free going leader, instead opting to just sit in behind. Waarif isn't too keen on being passed though and 2 furlongs out, when Robbie asked him to quicken, he did just that to battle, put his head down and lead in the last 100 yards, to ecstatic scenes from his owners. Well done to them and thank you to Robbie for a great ride.

As it's #RacingStaffWeek, we must give a big shout out to Matt from David's yard, who was on his own with Waarif - but the long journey home is always made better with a winner!

Another very good week for our horses; with four winners, three 2nd places and £60,500 of prize money won. So we head into a new month tomorrow looking to notch up our 40th winner of the year!
