Sparkling, at Ayr

Tue 18 Jul 2023

WINNER 64 OF 2023: ROLL IT IN GLITTER, trained by David & Mick Easterby and ridden by Billy Garritty: The 'Scottish Sun Ladies Night Handicap ' over 1m 2f at Ayr.

Already a winner at Beverley this season, the market had him as favourite for this race. Breaking well, he sat just in behind the leader with two others and travelled nicely. Billy switched him to the near side over 2f out to make a challenge and he responded; duly taking the lead. Although he hung left inside the final furlong, he fought off the challenger and just did enough, to win by a nose.

Timeform rated it as a career best 83 performance, saying: "Found a little more progress to resume winning ways up against more exposed rivals after 9 weeks off, going left under pressure almost allowing the second in; in touch, headway 2f out, led over 1f out, hung left, just held on.”

Syndicate manager Mike says: "Well done to his owners on his second win in 3 starts. I thought he looked a picture in the paddock and he looked even better as he crossed the line in front! He is progressive and likes a bit of cut in the ground. I agree with Timeform, when they call him 'a likeable type' and he should continue to give a good account this year.”
