Lelantos gets the job 'Dunne'

Winner 72 of 2025: LELANTOS, trained by Nicky Henderson and ridden by Robert Dunne. The “Pricedup.bet Handicap Hurdle” at Huntingdon over 3m1f.

A rather wet and cold November Saturday didn’t hinder our now 9-year-old yard favourite and bit of a legend, Lelantos, from getting back to winning ways. A brave round from our brown gelding, he jumped incredibly well and got a brilliant, positive ride from Robbie Dunne, who disputed the lead after a big leap over the last hurdle and stayed on best, to win comfortably by 1 1/2 lengths.

A huge well done to his owners, who stuck by him, as well as his trainer and syndicate manager, for bringing him back to full fitness after a year off due to injury. After a few solid runs in the summer, it was heart-warming to see him back in the winner’s enclosure. At 9 years old, he is still full of life and bravery, with the same enthusiasm and determination in his races. Well done, everyone!

"So lovely to see him getting his head back in front. A very deserving horse of doing just that. And of course, his owners are very deserving of that victory too. They stood by him through the good and bad times. Not every horse comes back from those kinds of injuries in the manner which he did. Lelantos has proven that he is robust enough and willing enough to get his head back in front. After some very good runs in defeat, I was wondering if a deserved victory would happen. He was a joy to watch; he jumped for fun with his ears pricked. Please, no one underestimate how much his victory will mean to the yard. He has spent over 6 years at Seven Barrows and is a firm yard favourite. Huge well done again, a fantastic Saturday afternoon victory."
