Botti filly is 'Bella The Ball' at Kempton

Sun 02 Feb 2020

Winner number 7 of the year: NO NAY BELLA (Marco Botti) - 1m Fillies' Novice Stakes at Kempton, ridden by Jimmy Quinn.

The daughter of Coolmore's young super sire No Nay Never was having her third start, this time up from 7 furlongs. She has shown some 'flighty' tendencies in the preliminaries of her first two starts, so Marco walked her down the chute so Jimmy could get in the saddle in a quieter area of the course. She was much better this time, clearly getting the hang of what is expected at the races!

She wasn't drawn brilliantly in 9, and Jimmy had to roust her along as the stalls opened to try and get as handy position as possible. Settled in midfield, she began to make headway 6f out and moved smoothly to the leaders. Jimmy pressed the turbo button and she quickened to lead well at the 1f marker by over 2 lengths. Showing greenness when in the lead, she hung right as she headed to the far rail, but held on to take the victory!

Nicely ridden by Jimmy, Marco was delighted with her. Not just because she won, but how she handled the preliminaries. Her owners should have some fun with her and will no doubt be taking plenty of treats as we head to Marco's yard next Saturday* to see our string! Well done everyone.
