A Rattling Success

Wed 18 May 2022

WINNER 44 OF 2022: RATTLING, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Pat Dobbs: 'The At The Races App Expert Tips Novice Stakes' (GBB race) over 6f at Wolverhampton.

Having her third start, she was 2nd last time out at Lingfield, after an enforced break of 362 days, due to an injury which curtailed her 2yo campaign. She caught the eye of the Sky Sports Racing on course reporter Luke Harvey, in the paddock. He remarked "She is a nice moving filly, with a lovely attitude as she walks round."

Breaking well, she was to the fore, as the favourite went straight to the front. Always prominent, on the outer, as they came around the home bend, Pat asked her to challenge the leader and she did just that, taking the lead in the final furlong. The two were in a sustained challenge, with James Doyle asking the favourite to fight back, which he did, but Rattling kept on strongly and was all out, to win by a short head, with Tommo calling his trademark "PHOTO!" as they crossed the line.

Timeform rated it as a t75 performance, saying: "Didn't need to improve to get off the mark, looking set to go away from the runner-up when hitting the front but only just hanging on in the end; chased leaders, led over 1f out, kept on, just held on.”

Pat said in his Sky Sports Racing interview, with Luke: "She relaxed lovely and when she got to the front she idled a little, but she is one to look forward to.” Then Luke had an on camera chat to a couple of her owners, which was great!

Syndicate manager Tim says: "Wonderful for her to scoop the extra £5,000 GBB Bonus on top of her £3,900 race prize money. Her owners have been very patient, but have been rewarded with a winning filly, who looks as though she could continue to progress. As you will have read, in the Racing Post report above, I have been in touch with her owners about the potential trip to Royal Ascot for her. When you say those two words to a flat owner, their eyes light up! So far, at the prestigious meeting, we have put Ventura Tormenta and Dubai Station in the Wokingham and Ventura Diamond is in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee - valued at a cool £1,000,000!

The strong form continues, as 11 of our last 13 runners have finished in the winners enclosure. 44 sets of winning owners so far this year, across both codes, so we have plenty of very happy syndicate members filling up their trophy cabinets!"
