World Class Wootton Bassett
Hot on the heels of the elitest of elite sires, Frankel and Dubawi, is Coolmore’s own WOOTTON BASSETT - the trajectory he’s on, as a stallion, could easily see him usurp both of the aforementioned anytime soon, particularly given the latter is no longer standing at stud. To name Wootton Bassett’s top progeny would be almost endless, however his offspring already include the likes of Group 1 winners and stallions Almanzor and King Of Steel, this years Classic Winners Henri Matisse and Camille Pissarro & dual Group 1 winner Whirl.
This colt has it all - just check out not only his sire’s potency but also factor in the gene pool this colt’s dam brings to the party. He’s out of a dam who is by the impeccable broodmare sire INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, who hails from a family of Champions. For all that the page is littered with Coolmore blue bloods who progress with age, there are, notably, winners of the likes of many a top class 2yo race - The Jean-Luc Lagaderre, The Princess Margaret Stakes, The Phoenix Stakes & The National Stakes to name but a few of the family’s, sharp and early, roll of honour.
Where better for such a blue blood to be trained than Clive Cox - who founded the stallions, from this very sale, Harry Angel, Supremacy & Golden Horde and who has won the last three renewals of Harry’s Half Million and their equivalent.

This beautiful, great moving Irish-bred colt looks like he will be fully effective as a 2yo and beyond and we’ll be hoping he can take high rank amongst both Clive’s and, of course, MPR’s 2yo cohort. You’d like to think you could look forward to Royal Ascot and/or Harry’s Half Million 2026, where our horse Song Of The Clyde plundered a whopping £338,000 in prize money in at York’s Ebor meeting in August. We’ll have one eye on next year’s renewal with this fellow, rest assured!
