Leading bloodtsock agent Ross Doyle, has sourced a potentially top class filly for us from a consignor he knows particularly well. We are very excited to have been able to purchase her privately especially as she is described as: "Showing up particularly well in her early work.”
Hailing from the first crop of the Group 1 winning stallion Ribchester, she’s out of a Showcasing mare, and is bred for both quality and speed. Every year, 'a new kid on the stallion block' takes the industry by storm, and we’re hearing from our trainers and our sources, that Ribchester’s progeny could be setting him up for that mantle in 2021.
Ribchester is by Iffraaj (sire of 10 group 1 winners, and is the sire of leading stallion Wooton Bassett) *Dual Champion European Miler (2016 and 2017), same as Frankel. *4 Group 1 Wins: one as a 3 YO (Prix Jacques Le Marois) and three as a 4 YO (Queen Anne Stakes, Prix Du Moulin, Lockinge.) *Won the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes as a 2 YO (shows forwardness.) *He holds the record for the fastest ever time over Ascot’s straight mile - 1m 36.60s. *First crop of yearlings sold for up to 350,000gns, highest price for a first season sire - see these examples in the gallery. As you can see from her videos, she is a really strong and well-muscled up girl, almost resembling a colt. She’s sharp and precocious, coping exceptionally well with everything that has been thrown at her to date.
Watch her walk and profile video here:
Significantly, she went away for a competitive gallop against a team from other consignors, and in the work, she acquitted herself most admirably. By all accounts, she was the one to take from the gallop. Following the piece of work, we were contacted by leading bloodstock agent Ross Doyle, who had previously purchased on our behalf the breezers Ventura Storm (Group 1 winner), Ventura Diamond (listed winner and heads for next week’s Nell Gwyn) and Thank You Next (dual 2yo winner including Group 3 second, and heads for next week’s Fred Darling. She’s entered for both the English and Irish 1000 Guineas), to strongly recommend that we purchase this filly privately, prior to her going through the ring at the forthcoming Breeze Up Sales, where she is entered. By all accounts, she was the one to take from the gallop.
She comes with a very tall reputation as a sharp and early filly for this side of, and including, but not exclusively, the Royal Ascot timescales.
Here's Richard's voice over, as he is ready to welcome her to Herridge:
We’ve had her vetted, which she has passed successfully, we’ve paid the fairly lofty invoice for her and she has now arrived at Richard Hannon’s yard. Now, all that remains, is to get her named, prepped through the stalls, entered for and onto the racecourse to begin her, hopefully, rather lofty career.
With a strong pedigree and a strong racecourse CV, she ought to retain fantastic residual value too. The World is her oyster and she’s ready to step up to the plate, we’re led to believe. Her reputation is sky high!
Training Update (5th May): Richard says she settled in to her new yard quickly and moves nicely. She did her piece of work on the grass this morning and he was very happy with her, she went well. She should need one more piece of work and then she will be ready for entries. Her race entries/declarations will show on this page.
Here she is having a nice easy canter as she settles in at Herridge:
