We hope we’ve unearthed a bit of a bargain here for 35,000gns. Still lightly raced and only 4yo, he races to Timeform ratings in excess of 90 (see the gallery) which entitles him to compete in races where the prize money to the winner are in excess of his purchase price. He’s a Saturday & Festival horse at the very least.
Marco Botti trained his brother to be a Group horse and having purchased him out of the John Gosden yard, he could easily excel further from Marco’s Prestige Place Stables, Newmarket. There’s a whiff of coming back in trip may just eke out improvement and a whiff of he may be better on the AW, but because he’s lightly raced and still open to improvement, you couldn’t be certain of his specific requirements. There are plenty of new avenues to explore.
By the super sire KODIAC. He’s a sire sensation; having ascended to greatness amongst the stallion ranks in recent times. His progeny include Group 1-winning fillies Campanelle, Fairyland and Tiggy Wiggy along with triple Group 1 winner Best Solution and crack sprinter Hello Youmzain. He missed a year in 2021, due to a fracture which needed a screw putting in, which remains there now. We have any number of horses who race with such procedures, even over jumps, so that is of little concern (it’s a slight concern, of course, though). He has form in the 90’s subsequently and has been in training with John Gosden all his life. Given he’s not a Group horse at the moment, he’s one that Derby winning Saeed Suhail and Mr Gosden have decided to move on.
He has now been gelded, which should give room for further improvement.
Racing Update: Very exciting and unexposed handicapper. Bought for 35,000gns last Summer out of the John Gosden yard, and bolted up on debut for us at Newbury in September. Then, had an enforced break due to injury over the Winter, however he bounced right back to form at Kempton last Wednesday (putting in a career best p103+) just being touched off in a fiercely competitive race. Qualifies for all the top, big prize money pot, handicaps and we could easily see one, falling his way. Clearly, not the most robust horse, but very talented indeed. He’s a Saturday and Festival handicapper. TIMEFORM RATED: 103. His race entries/declarations will show on this page.
