Purchased at the Osarus Breeze Up Sale in France in April 2022 for €31,000, he is FRENCH OWNER PREMIUMS QUALIFIED and is trained by Simone Brogi - trainer of our 15-time winner and €165k earner, Mensen Ernst.

By RECORDER, the leading French 1st crop sire. Owned by our late Queen Elizabeth II, you can read a story about the son of Galileo and his move to stud duties in France, here: https://www.theirishfield.ie/sire-focus-recorder-sires-his-first-stakes-winner-688022

Watch his breeze here:

We really loved his breeze, still showing a little greenness to be fair, a breeze, in which, he covered so much ground with his huge stride, and where he looked to have a great head carriage. The photo of him, in his gallop, really stretching out, shows both his physical and mental prowess. He hails from one of the top Breeze Ups consignors in France, so he comes from a very good nursery indeed.

He’s a strong and robust looking individual, qualified for French Owner Premiums (FOP), of course, which are a real bonus to such horses racing in France. Mensen Ernst has won prize money and FOP of over €162,000. (In the gallery you can see an example of the prize money and premiums earned in a Maiden race at Chantilly.)

Distances of 7f and a mile ought to befit him perfectly. He looks like he could be a high-class prospect. It is our understanding that he timed joint 15th fastest performer of the 60 odd horse cohort of breezers, on hand timings, finishing very strongly. It is some achievement to finish so close up on the times, for a horse with a 7f-1m2f pedigree and a large frame to get going with in the early part of the gallop.

Given the successes of Mensen Ernst and Fighter In The Win (who was sold for a high six-figure sum after his 2nd win and 3rd place in a Listed race,) we thought there was no more suitable candidate to train him than their trainer, Simone Brogi, who trains at Pau, near Toulouse and not far from Cagnes Sur Mer.

2022 saw Mensen Ernst win joint top winning most horse in France:

Son of Galileo, Recorder was a high class 2yo himself from July onwards and the mare of this strong and athletic colt has already produced 2 black type performers including 4 winnings 2yo’s. He’s very well bred indeed, when you factor together, both sides of his pedigree.

He is a big topped colt, so Simone advised that we geld him. He's strong, with great movement and should benefit from being gelded.

We gave him plenty of time to mature after his impressive breeze up performance, where he slightly blew us away. Simone says that he’s a lovely strong horse who is a great mover with a super long stride and great head carriage. He is looking superb, says Simone and should have a really productive time of it in 2023 where the prize money system is fantastic in France.

Racing Update: Already a winner on the flat in France this year, Simone has also started schooling at home as another future option, which he has taken to well. His race entries/declarations will show on this page.
