Purchased at the Goffs Premier Yearling Sale, this stunning colt is by Europe's leading Gr.1 sprint sire OASIS DREAM. He is the sire of over 190 stakes horses and the winners of over 220 stakes races, including 27 Group 1 races. He is one of the very best stallions, this century. He’s sired such horses as Muhaarar, Arcano, Midday, Prohibit, Ertijaal and Gale Force Ten amongst hundreds of others. He’s becoming a fabulous influence too, as a broodmare sire. From being the height of fashion 2 or 3 Years ago, the prices of his unraced stock have become far more feasibly priced of late, particularly with the Covid-19 downturn in the yearling prices of 2020.
We’ve had to stretch quite deep here at £32,000, to secure this really strong, yet athletic, colt, so he threatens to become a really talented and robust 2yo for us in 2021. He passed the vet and stringent inspections with flying colours - something that is important for us with every yearling we have purchased.
Our colt hails from the proven, winning producing listed performer BREVITY, who is by the sensational broodmare sire STREET CRY so he’s already a half-brother to a number of really talented individuals, rated as high as an official rating of 88.
This colt sits as just the perfect balance of genes, strength, athleticism and offers a real opportunity to be part of a classy 2yo next season, with the magnificent David O’Meara at the helm.
View his walk video here and a video of him parading at the sale in the gallery.
Training Update (2nd January): David reports that our colt is well at home. Before he had his little break and vaccinations over Christmas, he was completing 2 canters daily on the uphill gallop and he'll resume that process on Monday. That will be his daily routine throughout January as he builds up strength and fitness, in preparation for upsides work which will start during February. As you can see from the videos in the gallery, he has a good amount of strength behind the saddle. Here he is in the latest video:
We are pleased to say that his new racing name is now official. He will be called LACONIC.
