There's a saying that lightning doesn't strike twice, so when Nicolas de Watrigant of Mandore International Agency purchased both TIGRE DU TERRE as well as BOITRON for us, from just two horse purchases, there can be little doubt that he knows his onions; it's not just lightning striking randomly! Coincidentally, both horses were purchased in France, Nicolas is a Francophile, and both were purchased from two of his immense number of contacts over there. Nicolas purchases most of the horses for Al Shaqab so we are very privileged to be working in conjunction with him. He has in fact purchased 10 individual Group 1 winners in the last 4 years.
'Vente 2' yearling sale held in late August at Arqana, this year has produced the winners of both the French 1000 Guineas & 2000 Guineas 2018 so it's a proven sale for elite performers. Furthermore, we purchased our own listed and Group performer Clem Fandango from the sale for €11,000. You can see a video of his walk and profile on this page.
DABIRSIM is just about the best, young sire in Europe, in our opinion, having produced from a reasonably small number of foals, 4 horses in his first crop rated over 100 with numerous in the 80s and 90s. He was an unbeaten 2yo, winning both the Gp1 Prix Morny and the Gp1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère. His progeny tend to come to hand nicely as 2yo's but they progress into being 3yo's too. Our colt is a half brother to a 96 rated horse by Tin Horse; a stallion who has just 1 horse from 4 crops rated over 100, 2 rated in the 90s and 3 in the 80s. We'll leave you to decide which is the better sire and what rating our Dabirsim colt could achieve? Read more about his sire here: http://www.harasdegrandcamp.com/etalons/indexdabirsim.html
He is also qualified for Owners' premiums in France, which means in flat races, open to foreign runners, owners of qualified French-bred horses, receive a premium for all places in receipt of prize money: 64% of prize money for 2yo’s 3yo’s and 4yo’s and 43% of prize money for 5yo’s and upwards. A hugely impressive 3yo on debut; sauntering passed a Godolphin 88 rated horse in the final furlong. Watch his very impressive win on debut, here: https://www.racingtv.com/videos/watch/horse_racing_replays/263833-100-profit-boost-at-32redsport-com-novice-stakes-5
Racing Update: A lightly raced, imposing individual, who remains open to plenty of improvement and still only a 4yo. We’re pretty sure he needs 9f or 10f and the step up in trip should unlock further potential, once fit. Never went a yard last time out, but we found a couple of niggles, post-race. We’ve treated him for a hock irritation and he’s recovered perfectly well from it and is moving great now. Furthermore, he had an inflamed ligament in his pelvis which we’ve allowed to settle down too. He’s ticking over at Richard’s and we will see him back on a racecourse in May. He looks the perfect sort, in our opinion, for the Zetland Gold Cup, at Redcar at The May, Whitsun Bank Holiday meeting. He loves the AW and is already qualified for the £40,000 Kempton AW Mile series Final on 4th September. We’ll definitely keep one eye on that race, as the season progresses. TIMEFORM RATED 95+
