Purchased at the Goffs Premier Yearling Sale, this stunning colt is by Europe's leading Gr.1 sprint sire OASIS DREAM. He is the sire of over 190 stakes horses and the winners of over 220 stakes races, including 27 Group 1 races. He is one of the very best stallions, this century. He’s sired such horses as Muhaarar, Arcano, Midday, Prohibit, Ertijaal and Gale Force Ten amongst hundreds of others. He’s becoming a fabulous influence too, as a broodmare sire. From being the height of fashion 2 or 3 Years ago, the prices of his unraced stock have become far more feasibly priced of late, particularly with the Covid-19 downturn in the yearling prices of 2020.
We’ve had to stretch quite deep here at £32,000, to secure this really strong, yet athletic, colt, so he threatens to become a really talented and robust 2yo for us in 2021. He passed the vet and stringent inspections with flying colours - something that is important for us with every yearling we have purchased.
Our colt hails from the proven, winning producing listed performer BREVITY, who is by the sensational broodmare sire STREET CRY so he’s already a half-brother to a number of really talented individuals, rated as high as an official rating of 88.
This colt sits as just the perfect balance of genes, strength, athleticism and offers a real opportunity to be part of a classy 2yo next season, with the magnificent David O’Meara at the helm.

We are pleased to say that his new racing name is now official. He will be called LACONIC.
Training Update (12th March): As is normal practise with 2-year-olds at this stage, David has taken an X-Ray of his knees and growth plates to see how they’re coping and if they’re ready to be stepped up yet physically. We have done exactly that with him and the x-rays are showing that his knees remain a little open at this point rather than closed. This is very common with 2-year-olds as they are so young and maturing, growing and strengthening. This isn’t unusual at all. This isn’t a bad sign, it’s just nature. So, David will back off him for a while we allow the knees to mature and be in a position where we can kick on with him. Most of his siblings debuted over a mile and David and Jason see him as a summer debutant (probably over 7 furlongs) but things can change quickly in the life of a 2yo and we'll be guided by his work and his pace of development. As you can see from the videos in the gallery, he has a good amount of strength behind the saddle.
We have added a couple of videos of Laconic on the gallops in the gallery (Red Jacket) and then walking home from his work:
