ZOFFANY deserves a place at the top of the Middleham Park sires' tree, for he provided us with one of our three Group 1 winners in Ventura Storm. This son of Zoffany, is out of the Galileo mare Heliocentric - she has already produced two very talented performers. Read about his sire here: https://coolmore.com/farms/ireland/stallions/zoffany
From a sale that has afforded us both Clem Fandango and Raymond Tusk from a small cohort of purchases, the Arqana August Yearling Sale offers fabulous individuals with very strong pedigrees and it's no surprise that both French Guineas winners in 2018 were purchased at the Deauville Sales complex. The complex has been a very happy hunting ground for many, not just ourselves.
He is qualified for Owners' premiums in France, which means in flat races, open to foreign runners, owners of qualified French-bred horses, receive a premium for all places in receipt of prize money: 64% of prize money for 2yo’s 3yo’s and 4yo’s and 43% of prize money for 5yo’s and upwards. He looks the sort of horse who will progress throughout his career.
Pedigree update: "Sire on fire ZOFFANY (IRE) has 2 Group winners in 2 hemispheres in 2 days!" ITM Read an interesting story in the Racing Post about Zoffany here. (Our own Ventura Storm is mentioned too!)
Training Update: Purchased for €50,000 at Arqana, in France. He’s bred to be a black type horse on the Flat, and although he’s not quite lived up to that, as yet, his performance, last time, at Lingfield, suggested there could be plenty more to come. He was the day’s ‘eye catcher’ in the Racing Post. He’s schooled over hurdles and Tom O’Brien says “boy, he can jump”. A really inexpensive entry to the ownership ranks. He could easily rack up a sequence of wins and could be a winner under both codes. He looks a ‘no brainer’ for the money involved. TIMEFORM RATED: FLAT 68.
