Purchased at the Tattersalls Ireland Yearling sale, this colt is by EQUIANO. Read more about his sire here: http://www.newsells-park.com/equiano/conformation

Tattersalls reported - "Lot 348; The son of Love Action (Motivator) is bought by Middleham Park Racing for €62,000. He is a February-born colt by Equiano and was sold by Gaynestown Stud. He is a half-brother to two multiple winners, and a full-brother to Hidden Affair, a two-time winner at three. Love Action is a daughter of Speciale (War Chant), a Listed winner as a juvenile in France, and from the family of Grade 1 Yellow Ribbon Invitational Handicap winner Aube Indienne and the Group 2-winning Mare Nostrum. She is the dam of the Group 1 and Grade 1 winner, Erupt. The colt was a 16,000gns purchase last December by Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock from Pineapple Stud.”

Here’s a fantastic specimen and has the look of a quality; given he’s by the super-fast, Kings Stand winner Equiano, sire of the top class horses The Tin Man, Dakota Gold, Silent Venture, Desert Force and the GI Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint winner Belvoir Bay, to name but a few.

He hails from a family of 14 black type performers no less, and he’s from a Motivator mare who has already produced two 90 rated performers, including a full brother to this colt named Hidden Blitz, who was since purchased to race in Hong Kong. He debuted over 6f as a 2yo and did his winning over 7f and another of his siblings, Among Angels, won as a 2yo in May before running in the Windsor Castle.

What we really liked about this colt at the sales, was his size and scope for future development. He’s just fits the Mark Johnston bill perfectly. We see him as a very well put together individual, who has such great size and scope for his 3yo+ career too.

We were pleasantly surprised at the hammer price too, i.e. €62,000, given there was some fierce opposition in for him, but we were lucky enough for the hammer to fall in our favour. The last time we purchased from Jonathan Fogarty’s Gaynestown Stud, we purchased the 98 rated MOVE OVER, who actually performed at Group 2 level for us as a 2yo, before being sold to race in the USA, and we’d be delighted to think that this stunning colt, in conjunction with Mark Johnston’s talents, could emulate that level of performance.

He is PLUS 10 BONUS registered. Read more about that here: https://www.plus10bonus.com/

Racing Update: Has always worked like a horse who is bordering on Group class at home, but had teething troubles as a 2yo, which kept him from the track. Unleashed recently by Mark at Lingfield, he ran an absolute belter to only just be touched off, in a driving finish, by Clive Cox’s unbeaten Breath Of Sun. He then came out days later and destroyed the field by 61/2 lengths at Southwell, with Timeform sitting up and taking notice, saying: "Switched to fibresand, confirmed debut promise to get off the mark, clued up from start to finish this time and dominating; led, shaken up early in straight, drew clear over 1f out, impressive; will go on improving and ought to have no trouble winning more races." Saturday and Festival races, look almost inevitable, God willing, for this particularly well-bred son of Equiano. TIMEFORM RATED: 105p
