We had just over half a dozen top lots or naps, earmarked on our list, from the 187 horses being sold at the 2022 Goffs Uk (Doncaster) Breeze Ups Sale. It’s a sale that has produced 6 Royal Ascot winners in the last 6 years, including the 2000 Guineas fancy Perfect Power.

Of these half dozen or so horses of particular interests for us, one of them topped the sale, selling for £230,000, two sold for £160,000 and the others sold for £130,000, £125,000, £90,000 respectively. However, sitting alongside such lots, on our list was this particular individual. We struggled to find a single breeze, in the entire sale, to create a better visual impression, during the 2.5f gallop on Doncaster racecourse. He ticked every single box for us; gait, coordination, stride length, head carriage, temperament and overall impression. His time profile was precisely what we were looking for so we feared we may just be flying a little high in hoping to secure him for MPR.

Watch his breeze here:

A big, strong and as it turned out, a reasonably backward sort as a 2yo, we were always just dragging this £52,000 purchase along with us last year, given he has only just sufficiently mature to work with us. As a result, he probably didn’t show the immense promise, on the track, that we’d seen at the Breeze ups and in his pieces of work at home. At the back end of the season 2022 he had the sniffles and we decided to rough him off ready for the 2023 season.

He could even make a dual-purpose prospect, although that’s not a given, but is an angle we could consider; we’ll see.

Racing Update (17th May): Purchased at last season’s Doncaster Breeze Ups sale, he looks set fair, for an auspicious season. Already a winner at Beverley, he has also now been placed 3rd. Timeform were complementary after his run yesterday, saying: "Ran at least as well in defeat as when winning the time before, even if unable to confirm form with Orchestra this time; handy, took keen hold, every chance under 2f out, kept on; he's a likeable sort who should continue to pay his way." His race entries/declarations, will show on this page.

WINNER on seasonal debut.....!
