Ventura Ocean wins at Newmarket

A third career win yesterday, from the RICHARD FAHEY trained VENTURA OCEAN - this time at 'HQ' over 7 furlongs, on the July course at Newmarket.

He broke well and travelled to the fore under Paddy Mathers, who then rode him to lead 2 furlongs out. Challenged by Fastman, the pair were both driven to the line, with Ventura Ocean hanging on gamely to win by a nose, although the photo finish looked very close. At one point, before we had seen the print, we wondered whether it would be a second dead-heat of the day at the track!

Timeform rated his win as 101. He has been placed 1st or 2nd in seven of his 12 race career - for some reason though, he seems to have an aversion to York!

Well done to his owners - happy that he earned over £9,000 for this win.
