The show goes on behind the scenes
We don't need to re affirm the news headlines to you all at the moment, the daily updates from government do that very well and we hope that you and your families are safe and well.
We at Middleham Park Racing, take the guidelines very seriously and do what is being asked of us. Our team are all working as normal from home and continue to be in touch with our trainers and send updates out to our owners when they come in. The 2 year old's are ticking along with their daily routines and the show is certainly going on behind the scenes. They all require the usual attention, so we thank all stable staff for their continued dedication looking after our horses in these challenging times.
We have been encouraged with some of the reactions coming back from our owners about the situation we find ourselves in. We had been due to visit David O'Meara and Roger Fell this weekend, but of course all stable visits have now been cancelled. So, instead David and Roger provided us with video updates of all our horses on the gallops, so we gave our owners a 'virtual stable visit'! Here's an example of one from Roger Fell, of Elusive Heights, Watheer and Admirality:
We had planned to unveil a new horse in training with David during the visit, so instead we emailed out his details to all those who were due to attend and he is already 90% sold within 24 hours! See his details here: http://www.middlehamparkracing.net/horses/view,al-khabeer-by-lope-de-vega_333.htm. MPR owners are certainly resolute and looking to the future when our horses can get back on the racecourse.
Richard Hannon, who trained Magical Wish to be our last winner before racing was halted said: "On the equine side, business is carrying on pretty much as usual – The horses are still going out every day and we are continuing to prep them for the start of the flat season, whenever that may be. Our staff remain fit and healthy and are continuing with the day to day routine. Our two-year olds have begun working on the grass gallop and will at least have plenty of time to complete their education before they run."
We have been keeping our social media channels busy across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (see these links below) and thank our owners for sharing some of their racing photos and stories! Our monthly newsletter will also go out as normal on April 1st, so if you are not already subscribed for that and any promotions we may do, you can do that here.: Mailing List Sign Up.
We will continue to be positive and do what we can to support our trainers and their teams. Tim says: "If ever there was a time to be so very grateful to each and every member of staff, working in the racing industry, it is now, with each and every one, continuing the seeming, ‘business as usual,’ behind the scenes, attitude, that seems so prevalent, in this sphere of the racing industry.
Obviously, it’s essential from a welfare point of view, that the horses at their stables, are treated to the very best of care. It’s these ‘essential’ racing industry workers, that are carrying out such tasks, on our behalf. We offer them our sincere gratitude and indebtedness, at this time. May we offer them our very best wishes for continued happiness in their work."
Please stay safe everyone.
