Right On Time

WINNER 102 OF 2021: KEEP RIGHT ON, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Sean Levey: 'The MansionBet Proud Partners Of The AWC Handicap' over 7f at Lingfield.

A racing cliché, yes, but he has been 'knocking on the door' in his last three races: 2nd, by a head at Leicester and then last time out, over the course and distance of yesterday's race; 3/4 of a length in 3rd. Trouble was, he was drawn widest of all, in stall 13 lining up for this one!

He broke smartly though and Sean got him towards the front of the field, although he still had to race wide. Coming around the bend, Sean asked him to quicken and he responded well, going 2nd and then taking the lead inside the final furlong. Pressed on both sides close to the line, he stayed on well under a strong drive from Sean, to win by a head.

Matt Chapman: "Ride of the day, ride of the season, possibly ride of the century from that draw!"  Watch the full race replay here: https://www.attheraces.com/racecard/Lingfield/01-December-2021/1150

Timeform rated it as a p74 performance, saying: "Has been in good heart of late and ran up to best to finally get off the mark back in headgear.."

In his Sky Sports Racing interview with Matt, who started by saying”That's the best ride you have ever given a horse!" Sean said "I managed to get a good pitch, but had to ride safe. He is smarter than most horses, but he was there for me today."

Syndicate manager Tim says: "Big congratulations to his loyal owners, who have been rewarded for their patience. Sean did a super job there, but you also have to say that Keep Right On was very tenacious, so well done all round. Two winners in 2 days, keep us rolling towards that syndicate winners record!”
