Richard Fahey Stable Tour

Mon 13 Apr 2020

The Sporting Life website today began it's 'Our Friends In The North' series of stable tours. The first, with Richard Fahey got us very excited when we saw two of our older horses get a mention: Ventura Ocean and Ventura Lightning. It was great to see our old friend Ventura Rebel getting a glowing write up (there's a lovely photo of him winning at Ascot for us there too!)

As luck would have it, we received a video of them working together this morning too!

Here's what Richard says about Ventura Lightning. Something nice to read for the owners of Ventura Lightning when we sent this out to them earlier today:

"He had a good first season and ran some decent races. We were going to aim him at the Free Handicap and go from there but clearly need a new plan. I think seven furlongs will be his trip. He came from the breeze-ups and had that in his mind all the time but this year he’s more relaxed and in great form. He could end up the sort for the Jersey Stakes."

Syndicate manager Tom Palin says: "This is always a race that we've had in mind for him as a possible option if he proved to everyone that he retained his ability for his 3 year old season on the track. We could also look at the Britannia Handicap if it was demonstrated that the mile was his trip, both of these are at the Royal meeting."

Regarding his 2 year old string, Richard says:

"We bought more staying types for this year. They’re hard horses to get but there’s a programme set out or them. We didn’t keep away from the sharp ones but also bought a lot who needed a bit of time so the lock down hasn’t been a disaster for them. Tony Hamilton reckons this is the best bunch we’ve ever had – he’s an extremely good judge who doesn’t usually say things like that. I hope he’s right!"

Richard and the team have been keeping our owners updated with super videos and reports from the gallops. Here's one we received this morning regarding VENTURA MUTINY, our Tattersalls Book 1 Showcasing colt:

We have shares available in four 2 year old's at Musley Bank, you can see all their details here.
