Plenty of Hot Ayr!

Tue 19 Jul 2022

WINNER 81 OF 2022: MONSIEUR KODI, trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Oisin Orr: 'The Jordan North @Scottish Sun Ladies Night Handicap' over 6f at Ayr.

2nd over course and distance 7 days ago, the market had him as favourite. He swerved to the right at the start, but was away well. Disputing the lead, he was headed over 3f out, but as soon as Oisin asked him to lengthen, he asserted at the 1-pole and ran on well inside the final furlong to win by 2 and a 1/4 lengths, for his second career win.

"It's all about one horse, as Monsieur Kodi scoots clear." Watch the full race replay here: https://www.racingtv.com/videos/watch/horse_racing_replays/400776-jordan-north-scottish-sun-ladies-night-handicap-6

Timeform rated it as a career best 83+, saying: "Went one better than last time, producing a career best having always been up there; dived right leaving stalls, disputed lead early then remained prominent, led over 1f out, kept on well; he'll be forced back into a higher grade now but should continue to give a good account, mindful of his useful sprint pedigree.”

Oisin said in his Racing TV interview: "I was happy to go forward as there was not much pace on. He galloped all the way to the line and has won nicely. Hope he can keep improving.”

Syndicate manager Tom says: "Congratulations to his owners on his second win. Oisin gave him a brilliant ride and executed the plan perfectly. The extra time we have given him to mature and fill his frame, is paying off and owners are being rewarded for their patience.”

WINNER 82 OF 2022: STAR SHIELD, trained by David O'Meara and ridden by Danny Tudhope: 'The Staycations at Western House Hotel Handicap ' over 1m at Ayr.

Towards the rear of the 5 runners on the outer, Danny, who knows him so well, waited to make his move. 2f out, he asked him to quicken and moved to dispute the lead inside the final furlong. It was anyone's race in the last 1/2 furlong and as four of them were driven to the line, a photo was called (see the image in the gallery.) We didn't have to wait too long, for him to be called the winner and by a nose.

"That's the finish of the day!" Watch the full race replay here: https://www.racingtv.com/videos/watch/horse_racing_replays/400780-staycations-at-western-house-hotel-handicap-5

Timeform rated it as an 83 performance, saying: "Had front-running tactics quickly shelved and got back on track, belatedly capitalising on a reduced mark and gaining a first success on turf since 2020; in touch, good headway 2f out, edged ahead final 100 yds.”

Sadly, Racing TV didn't show him returning to the winners enclosure or do any post race interviews - something that seems common when you win the last race on the card.

We love this video of him having a cool down and a drink back in the stables! Well done lad on your 7th win.

Syndicate manager Mike says: " Well done to his owners and I thought that was a fine performance from both horse and jockey. There was just enough pace in the race for Danny to get cover and get him settled without him pulling and what an exciting finish it ended up being. It was lovely to see Star Shield so game in the finish and Danny got his nose down in front on the line."

More winners for #TeamMPR and our owners, as the year continues to be record breaking. Listen to our Founder Tim Palin speaking on Nick Luck's podcast today, where he talks about our success and strategy:
