Plans for the resumption of racing - Read the latest update

Thu 30 Apr 2020

We hope that you and your families are safe and keeping well.

We have been watching with interest, the daily Downing Street briefings and have been keeping in touch with the news coming from the BHA and committees within racing, regarding a possible resumption date. Today's update can be seen here: https://www.racingpost.com/news/coronavirus/resumption-plans-step-up-with-programme-being-compiled-but-prize-money-hit/432795. Clearly, racing is working hard behind the scenes, in conjunction with Government ministers, to get back racing, just as soon as is practicable

Our team continue to be in regular touch with our trainers, who have been sending us some tremendous videos and updates on our horses for our owners. The 2 year old's are ticking along with their daily routines at home and the news coming in from selected yards is that some are 'ready to run.' Although, preparation 'gallops' will be waited with until there's a programme in place for the trainers to target their strings. Grass gallops have been put to good use with the mild spell of weather and the sunshine has brought them on nicely in their coats. Richard Fahey told Sporting Life today: "The horses are in great form – they’re fit and well – and the older ones are ready to go. The two-year-olds are continuing their education. The good weather has helped and I’m very pleased with where they all are. Hopefully we'll soon have an idea of what the road ahead looks like so we are ready to go when the situation changes."

All the horses require the usual care and attention, even without racing, so we thank all trainers, their stable staff, vets and support staff, for their continued dedication looking after them and riding them out in these challenging times.

We have been encouraged with some of the reactions coming back from our owners about the situation we find ourselves in and thank them for their continued support, during a situation where we have all needed to show patience and understanding.

We have been doing our best to keep our social media channels busy across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (see these links below) and thank our owners for sharing some of their racing photos and stories! Our monthly newsletter will also go out as normal tomorrow, so if you are not already subscribed for that and any promotions we may do, you can do that here.: Mailing List Sign Up.

Our new weekly 'lockdown' Sunday evening virtual pub quiz on YouTube, has been a real hit, so if you haven't taken part yet, you can see all the details for this Sunday's edition here: http://www.middlehamparkracing.net/news/view,our-sunday-evening-virtual-pub-quiz-has-been-a-hit-were-back-again-this-wee_2336.htm Do join in the fun!
