Oui, Oui, Monsieur

Wed 10 Aug 2022

WINNER 89 OF 2022: MONSIEUR KODI, trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Oisin Orr: 'The Join Racing TV Now Handicap' over 6f at Carlisle.

A winner at Ayr last time out, the handicapper put him up 7lbs for that and lined up here on a career high mark, as favourite.

Bouncing out of the stalls well, he disputed the lead and then settled into 2nd on the inner. Oisin asked him for an effort at the 2-pole and he moved into the lead 1 furlong from home. Pulling clear, he kept on strongly to win by 3 lengths.

"Monsieur Kodi stretches away to win nicely." Watch the full race replay here: https://www.racingtv.com/videos/watch/horse_racing_replays/404357-join-racing-tv-now-handicap-5

Timeform rated it as a career best 89+, saying: "Progressed further to shrug off a 7 lb rise in the weights, winning decisively again; close up, ridden under 2f out, led 1f out, stayed on well; he is thriving and may do better still.”

Oisin said in his Racing TV interview: "That was fairly straightforward - he is improving all the time and going the right way.”

Syndicate manager Tom says: "Congratulations to his owners on his third win. He shouldered that 7lb rise well and hit the line hard, to put in a career best. He is certainly progressive and fulfilling his potential that Richard saw in him at home, as a 2yo. The extra time we gave him to mature and fill his frame, is paying off and loyal owners are being rewarded for their patience. The handicapper will have his say again, but he is in the Great St Wilfred on Saturday, which we will consider, as the consolation race is worth £25k.”
