Lexington Dash-es to Win the Feature

Sun 02 May 2021

OUR 24th WINNER OF 2021: LEXINGTON DASH, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by David Probert: The feature Class 2 'Free Tips Daily On attheraces.com Handicap' over 6f at Doncaster.

He returned to Doncaster, after his very good season opening 2nd place at the track on Lincoln day. Drawn on the outer in 7, David held him up in behind the leaders keeping towards the centre of the track. He was travelling strongly and as others came off the bridle, David held on to him and from 2f out he was breezing up nicely. A shake of the reins to chase the two leaders and he quickened well and went on to lead at the furlong pole; keeping on well, he ran on strongly to pull away by 2 lengths. Simon Mapletoft, on Sky Sports Racing commented: "He powered to the line in impressive fashion and found plenty. There are quite a few joyous owners here too!"

David said in his post race interview: "He's a gent of a horse and very straight forward. He got into a great rhythm and was able to go through the gears smoothly. Hopefully he can keep progressing."

Timeform awarded him a career best rating of  112 and say: "Hadn't been seen to best advantage on his previous outing but found this panning out better for the way he was ridden; held up, headway 2f out, produced to lead entering final 1f, ridden out; he's run 3 times at Doncaster and has performed notably well on each occasion."

There were some happy owners at the track and we thank Doncaster for looking after them well.

Syndicate manager Tim says:"Congratulations to his owners on his quite authoritative victory - it's not always easy picking up these £20k Class 2 races. It does look like 6f on good to firm is the key to him right now. Still only a 4 year old and on the upcurve is a nice place to be. My feeling is that he should now go straight to The Wokingham at Royal Ascot, which I'm sure he would get in. A strong April with 11 winners, it's good to have our first winner on the board on the 1st of May!"
