It's Another Treble!

Thu 02 Jun 2022

WINNER 52 OF 2022: NELSONS ROCK, trained by Joe Tizzard and ridden by Brendan Powell: 'The Newton Abbot Racecourse On Facebook Handicap Chase' over 3m 2f at Newton Abbot.

Second last time out over hurdles, after a break, this was his chase debut and over the longest trip that he had raced over under rules. Although the field was reduced to 3 runners, they raced in single file for much of the contest, with Nelsons Rock tracking the leader in 2nd. His jumping was super throughout and he was travelling well, as he joined the leader 5 out. As the other two horses came off the bridle, he took the lead 2 from home and went clear towards the final fence - running on, to win comfortably by 2 and a 1/4 lengths, with his ears pricked!

"Nelsons Rock has travelled sweetly throughout and will go on to score." Watch the full race replay here: https://www.attheraces.com/racecard/Newton-Abbot/01-June-2022/1420

Timeform rated it as a 102 performance, saying: "Made a successful chasing debut, value for a fair bit extra to boot, a pretty flawless start in this new discipline all told; pressed leader, jumped soundly, travelled best, went on 2 out, clear before last, closed down only late on; seems sure to do better.”

Brendan said to Luke Harvey in his Sky Sports Racing interview: "I schooled him at home last week, but you never really know how they will take to it until you come to a track, but he jumped really well. He's pretty straightforward and its nice to ride one for the guvnor!” Luke then interviewed two very pleased members of his syndicate on camera, which was great.

Syndicate manager Tom says: "Congratulations to his owners on another win with him. He has really taken to the discipline, considering that both his rivals had plenty of chasing experience. To win like that as a novice in open company is super. I thought Brendan gave him a great ride and he was always in control. ”

WINNER 53 OF 2022: DYNAMIC FORCE, trained by Robert Cowell and ridden by Ray Dawson: The feature 'Every Race Live on Racing TV Handicap' over 5f at Nottingham.

Running this time in co-owner Tom Morley's colours (he runs in alternate silks), this was his first start since being gelded. The market had over looked him - probably based on his last run, where he boiled over and was very coltish. Hence the now returning Dynamic Force, as a gelding.

Always prominent on the outer, he made a strong challenge 1f out, keeping on well to lead towards the finish. There was just 3/4 of a length separating the first 4, but he had just done enough, to win by a 'short head' in the photo finish.

Timeform rated it as career best 96 performance, saying: "His reappearance at Sandown threw up some subsequent winners, had undergone a gelding operation since and was the outsider of the pack but produced a career-best effort to gain a narrow verdict; close up, pushed along 2f out, kept on, led near line; this probably wasn't a strong race but he's unlikely to go up too much for this.”

He was The Racing Post Star Performer of the meeting: "Dynamic Force (3.30) got his career back on track with a hard-fought success in the feature sprint handicap."

Lydia Hyslop interviewed Robert at the track for Racing TV. He said: "He has showed a lot of ability at home, but his coltish behaviour at Sandown meant that the sensible decision was to geld him, He looked relaxed today and that decision has now been justified. He's a lovely big scopey horse with a long stride for a sprinter and shows a lot of speed. I am delighted.”

Syndicate manager Tim says: "Great to see him bounce back to form. Well done to our co-owner Tom Morley and our syndicate on his win in the feature race. He could have a possible tilt at a Royal Ascot handicap. I will speak to Robert and come up with a plan, as we always do!”

WINNER 54 OF 2022: THE PLATINUM QUEEN, trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Oisin Orr: 'The British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes' over 5f at Ripon.

Our next 2-year-old to debut; we purchased the daughter of Cotai Glory at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-up Sale, at the end of April.

She didn't break that well and ducked right, but took herself into midfield on the outer. As Oisin shook her up, she made good headway 2f out, to press the leader. She ran on well to take the lead, to win comfortably by a length.

"It's The Platinum Queen doing best." Watch the full race replay here: https://www.attheraces.com/racecard/Ripon/01-June-2022/1700

Timeform rated it as a 90 performance, saying: "Overcame inexperience to make a winning debut in the manner of a good prospect; dived right leaving stalls, mid-field, travelled well, close up 2f out, quickened to lead approaching final 1f, driven out; sure to progress and win more races.”

Simon Mapletoft spotted syndicate manager Tom in the winners enclosure, so asked him for an interview on Sky Sports Racing: "Actually this was no surprise. She is very uncomplicated at home and we thought this was just right for her, opposition and race wise. She will have learned plenty with these ridges and we can forgive her the slow start on debut. We could consider Royal Ascot with her, but we will have to see how she comes out of this and discuss plans for her with Richard.”

Syndicate manager Tom says, in addition to his interview comments above: "The perfect start! Richard is delighted with how she went about it. She dropped her head nicely in the middle of the race and loomed upsides the 2nd horse, which had the benefit of experience and the rail to assist. She stayed on strongly and Oisin was very pleased with her effort, suggesting that she would come on for that.”

The perfect start to June, with 3 winners from 4 runners, across both codes. Amazingly, we had a treble only 3 days ago too!

How superbly are our 2-year-olds running? From 10 to have made their debuts, we have won 8 races. 4 of them on debut; by Eddie's Boy (Timeform 91p,) Maylandsea (Timeform 89p,) Dear My Friend (Timeform 85p) and now The Platinum Queen (Timeform 90p.) With Royal Ascot being the talk of the town for juveniles this time of year, keep an eye on our entries page to see who we could have lining up!

Very exciting and rewarding times for our owners at the moment.
