In The Million Pound Zone

Thu 01 Jun 2023

WINNER 44 OF 2023: END ZONE, trained by Roger Fell and ridden by Jonny Peate (-3): The 'Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park Handicap' over 1m 1/2f at Hamilton.

Breaking well, from stall 2, Jonny just allowed two others to go on and slotted him into third, but in a handy position. Pushed along 2f out, he made headway to take the lead inside the final furlong. Keeping on, he was pushed out and was always doing enough, to win by 3/4 of a length.

Timeform rated it as a 71 performance, saying: "Confirmed return to form and blinkers are having a positive effect at present; chased leader, effort 2f out, produced to lead 1f out, kept on.”

Jonny said in his Racing TV interview: "He got into a lovely rhythm today. They went an even gallop and we had something to aim at. I'm delighted for his owners and everyone at home.”

Syndicate manager Mike says: "Well done to his owners on his win! It was the perfect set up yesterday, with one horse going on which allowed him to settle into a nice rhythm. He is fine this morning and we hace declared him under a penalty, at Musselburgh on Saturday. There were some happy owners there as it is their local course and to have a winner 'at home' is special. He helped tip our 2023 prize money earnings over £1m, which is the earliest we have ever done so. Plenty to celebrate at the moment as we head into the Epsom Derby Festival and with DEAR MY FRIEND, being our first ever runner in the world's famous Classic, it's going to be very exciting.”
