From The Front.
Thu 28 Apr 2022
WINNER 35 OF 2022: LEAP ABROAD, trained by Paul and Oliver Cole and ridden by Mohammed Tabti (-7): 'The Ggm Groundscare Supports the Nhc Handicap' over 6f at Pontefract.
There was a concern that he may not be able to get across from his draw in 5, but he broke well and Mohammed did a super job of guiding him to the rail, without using too much pace to do so. Hitting the front, having bagged the rail he travelled nicely and coming around the bend into the final 2 furlongs, he had the rest of the field off the bridle in behind. Getting a shake of the reins in the final furlong, he stretched away to go clear final and kept on strongly to win by 4 and 1/4 lengths.

Timeform rated it as a career best 93 performance, saying: "Back on turf, improved again to go one better than on his last couple of starts, though seen to maximum effect given the tactics on the day; led, travelled well, quickened on early in straight, driven out”

Syndicate manager Mike says: "Well I was impressed by that - a great ride by Mohammed. Congratulations to his syndicate on his second win, putting in a career best yesterday. His last 6 starts read 2nd, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 1st - you can't argue with that form!”
We are at Tattersalls this week, so it was apt that we purchased him at this very sale this time last year for 22,000 guineas and he has now paid for himself from his winnings. We have found some nice new horses at this seasons breeze ups and have purchased already today at the Guineas sale, so details will go out to everyone on our mailing list, once trainers have been decided."
