Divine Spear wins in impressive style at Ascot
Winner 88 of the year was DIVINE SPEAR at Ascot on Friday.
A spectacular round of jumping from our son of Oscar, under Nico de Boinville, saw him win by an impressive 10 lengths for Nicky Henderson. That makes it 2 from 2 over fences and he made it look easy. With 5 career wins now under his belt, he has duly now paid for himself, after adding £9,747 to his career race prize money won.
Nico said post race: "Dropping back in trip, we were keen to make use of him. He has so much scope and will be better on better ground." What a lovely early Christmas present for his jubilant owners, all looking delighted in the winners' enclosure with Nico and Nicky. They seemed to be enjoying themselves too in the private box we booked for them for the day according to the attached photo!
"That should see him rated high enough for the Close Brothers handicap at the Cheltenham Festival" says his syndicate manager Tom, interviewed at the course by Racing UK.
We see Divine Spear has earned a Timeform rating of 143p and an RPR of 145 following yesterday's win.
