Purchased at the Tattersalls Ireland Goresbridge breeze-up sale, this son of LAWMAN is Plus 10 Bonus qualified. Read more about his sire here: http://www.ballylinchstud.com/stallions/lawman/
When you see such a strong and robust individual, float across the ground, eating up the turf with his long, raking stride and determined head carriage, combine with a fabulously strong Group 1 winning pedigree, you get the sense that we could be onto something here.
He's by the fantastic Group 1 producing sire Lawman, who won the French Derby, out of an American Mizzen Mast mare who is a FULL sister, no less to the Group 1 winner, GIANT TREASURE and the GROUP 1 placed, JIBBOOM. He has genes to die for. He's from the high-class family of Al Bahathri, Big Orange, Haafhd and Red Cadeaux so he'll be much much better, with time and a distance of ground to cover.
We purchased this horse in conjunction with the revered breeze up ace, Roger Marley, who, along with colleague and friend, John Cullinan, are just about as respected a breeze up judge as there is. George Duffield, Ann's husband fell in love with the horse at the sale, from the moment he saw him breeze and his opinion changed not one iota, on viewing him with Ann and Roger, back at the sales complex. Ann was convinced that her budget of €30,000 ish euros, would not get anywhere near this colt, however herself and George, were delighted to be wrong. We think he represents very good value and we took next to no time to agree to purchase him when Ann offered him to us.
He's Plus 10 registered, so a victory in a Plus 10 maiden or novice, along with any prize money earned, will recoup half of what we have invested in him, in one fell swoop, let alone the then valuation he would have. The vendors at the sale, are convinced, from what they have seen at home, that he can win precisely one of these races early in his career, before going in to bigger and better things. It is their opinion that they simply haven't been able to get to the bottom of this horse's ability at home, and that he remains with a huge amount of untapped potential; it's perfectly believable too, that such an imposing 2yo as this, has plenty more under the bonnet, that a 2.25f breeze wouldn't be able to demonstrate, fully. He posted a really good time in his breeze, which is very surprising given his pedigree is that of a miler or 9f horse in time. He clocked very progressive fractions and he's the sort of horse to show up, significantly better, over 5f and beyond.
Ann says "Everyone loves a grey and this boy won’t let the handsome brigade down. Castrated already (saves me a job) he is ready to get on with and his largely French/ American pedigree is impressive. His dam is a full sister to group 1 winner Giant Treasure (winner of 5 races and 1.4 million in prize money, and group winner Jibboom (also winner of 5 races) . He is also from the family of Red Cadeaux, Military Attack, Haafhd, Big Orange and Al Bahathri. His sire “Lawman” is proven and hardy. This lad looks as tough as teak and breezed very well, he is ready to get on with and looks every inch a two year old."
