Mehmas is already a record-breaking stallion and imparts both lightning-fast speed and Group class quality into his progeny, precisely what he was himself during his racing career. It’s both notable and remarkable, just how precocious and hardy his progeny seem to be, on the track. He’s already established himself as producing horses who carry the label “has a Mehmas head carriage” denoting determination and tenacity. The stride patterns of his offspring are both lengthy and raking and cover plenty of ground and Silky Wilkie certainly has all of these traits!

Racing Update: In the form of his life, putting in a winning, career best performance on Saturday! It’s not often that you see a big handicap won in that style and he was hugely impressive. Timeform were impressed and gave it a rating of 120. (A number usually reserved for Group 1 horses). It looks like handicaps may not be an option going forward and we’ll have to think about a Listed & Group race programme for him. Still only 4yo, he’s a bit of a winning machine, and looks sure to continue to acquit himself admirably throughout the rest of 2023. A perfect Saturday & Festival horse.
