The Osarus yearling sale, is where we’ve enjoyed considerable success, notably the listed winner and Group 1 placed BOITRON for €45,000 and the Black Type performer TIGRE DU TERRE for €55,000, who finished 2nd to the Prix Jean Prat runner up Cascadian, before being sold to Hong Kong for a life changing sum, the most we’ve ever sold a horse in training for.

This colt was purchased, on our behalf, by Nicolas De Watrigant, of Mandore International, who, amongst the whole of the French Bloodstock agents’ network, is, almost unquestionably, peerless. He’s responsible for sourcing some of the very best French and Uk horses, such as Treve, Toronado, Olympic Glory, and more recently Gimcrack winner Lusaka, and Richmond Stakes winner Armore, as part of his role with Al Shaqab racing. Furthermore, he’s sourced for MPR, the likes of the above mentioned Black type performers BOITRON and TIGRE DU TERRE and more recently Lexington Dash; all three rated well in excess of 100 by the Timeform experts.

This colt has a pedigree (see that attached) that suggests he could be a top-class miler, eventually, as a 3yo in 2023. He’s bred to be effective on both turf and the AW and could easily retain huge residual value to be sold abroad, but the way the prize money structure is based in France, he has the potential to earn vast sums of prize money if he can graduate to become a Group race performer over there.

He qualifies for French Owner Premiums and, of course, will race, in France primarily, for the fantastic levels of prize money that the French owners enjoy. Even the lower levels of prize money in France means a standard Classe 3 or Classe 2 comes with around €20,000 or €25,000 in added value. The whole system over there is more owner friendly, financially. The vast majority of horses in training in France cover their costs, it’s a whole different ball game. As a result, primarily, he will race in France, but visits to the Uk and Italy to race, are perfectly feasible, in pursuit of black type for his pedigree.

He is by first season sire SEABHAC (by the phenomenal Scat Daddy.) “Seabhac was a very forward-training juvenile who reminded me of his sire at two. I believe he would have developed into a top class three-year-old if not for an unfortunate setback, a serious contender for the Triple Crown races.” Todd Pletcher, trainer.

Training Update: Really starting to come good now, having been a slow to come to hand 2yo in the Summer. Quite typical of many French bred horses, where their 3yo career is what their pedigree decrees, we’ve plenty to look forward to this Winter and beyond. He’s really pleasing Simone, who sounds very upbeat about his chances of winning a maiden in the short term. Quite an exciting, young, unraced colt.

Here he is looking good at home on the gallops (Nov 19th):
