This colt was purchased by Mark at Tattersalls Yearling Sales - Book 2. He has near perfect conformation and an exceptional pedigree as he is the full brother to Luminate the dual Group 3 winner. Luminate was trained in France by Freddy Head, she had an unbeaten 2-year-old career winning the Prix de Conde (G3) at Chantilly and she backed that up with a win in the Prix Penelope (G3) at the start of her 3-year-old season and was one of the highest rated horses her sire Lawman has produced. She was sold for 900,000 Guineas at the Tattersalls December Mares' Sale.
Lawman has been a stalwart at stud since he retired over 10 years ago. He earned his place at stud winning multiple Group 1's in his native France. The highlight of his career was winning the French Derby, the Prix du Jockey Club (G1) beating an impressive field by over a length. After his Classic win, he went back to Chantilly and won the Prix Jean Prat (G1) beating 2 other Classic winners from his generation. Lawman's Progeny fetch an average of over £48,000 with his most expensive yearling this year selling for over £500,000. He has earned these impressive numbers with a consistent string of quality horses. His most notable being, Marcel, Most Improved, Harbour Law, Forest Ranger, Just The Judge and of course Luminate. Lawman was responsible for 15 black type winners in 2018 alone. 3 of his sons now stand at stud themselves, Marcel, Most Improved and Harbour Law. Kalandara was a modest racehorse for Sir Michael Stoute, she never managed to break her maiden. She is by the famous American sire Rainbow Quest from a very well-bred family of Aga Khan horses. She is a half-sister to 3 black type winners including Kalanisi, the winner of the Dubai Champions Stakes (G1) and the Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1). Kalandara has found much more success as a mare especially with her recent progeny - Luminate is the best horse she has produced to date.
The Lawman, Rainbow Quest combination has worked very well in the past, with Just The Judge, Rocket Fly and Luminate bred on the same cross. This is a really exciting colt with plenty of scope to be a really top performer.
FREE LEASE OPTIONS:
Here's probably the most sensible and easily affordable route into racehorse ownership. We can offer a free lease into this colt, as well as full ownership options! A fantastically affordable and almost instant foray into the ownership ranks, a free lease option means that there is nothing to pay up front to join the syndicate, just our usual, regular monthly lease payment as with any other shareholding with us.
The perfect opportunity for a first-time owner, looking to dip their toe into racehorse ownership; inexpensive to be part of, whilst still high on expectations. You just pay a monthly training fee instead of buying a full share and paying an amount upfront. Lease owners receive all our usual MPR ownership benefits (see below), with the exception of, as you would expect, a percentage of future resale value of the horse or race winning trophies; given that your syndicate association is a lease hold share. However, given there's no initial outlay of funds to join the syndicate, that's a perfectly fair quid pro quo, we'd suggest.
Here's what lessees of a horse benefit from:
- full race day complimentary owners’ badge entitlements (the quantity dependant on the % shareholding e.g. one badge with 2.5% and two badges with 5%)
- receipt of all prize money earned (commensurate with percentage shareholding)
- full owners’ updates from the syndicate manager
- full access to our newsletters and offers
- full entitlements to stable visits and events.
Trainer Update (12th August): Charlie reports that he worked again on Saturday and it was the best piece of work that he’s done so far, so he’s taking steps forward. Charlie noted that the gallops were the softest they’ve been all summer (due to the amount of recent rain.) He didn’t know whether it was coincidence but it’s something we can bear in mind in the future!
We always thought that with his pedigree, he would be a late August debutant when the races over a mile start for 2yo’s and he looks like being on track for that.
