No Nay Never ex The Tempest colt
The MPR and Richard Fahey 2-year-old success story!
We have a superb record with our juveniles trained by Richard. His is our only trainer who has sent 2-year old’s that we have purchased as yearlings, to race at Royal Ascot – every year since 2017! Simmy’s Copshop, Ninetythreetwenty and Ventura Rebel are these trailblazers and we think our new purchases are a step up again in quality.
The owners of Ninetythreetwenty and Ventura Rebel accepted multiple six figure offers for both these 2-year olds and consequently earned a fantastic profit, so we do know how to buy a talented yearling for Mr Fahey to train. Listed and Group winning fillies Sandiva and Lily's Angel were also superstars for us trained at Musley Bank.
Our 2019 Ripon, Hornblower Conditions race winner, Ventura Lightning (OR 100), bought in 2019 as a breeze-up colt, is one to look forward to back on the turf this season too, so who will be this year’s Musley Bank Royal Ascot contenders?
Purchased at the Tattersalls December Yearling sale, this colt is by Coolmore's super young sire NO NAY NEVER. Read about him here: https://coolmore.com/stallions/no-nay-never. In fact today we heard that John Dance has chosen the sire to send his superstar filly Laurens to as her first cover - read that story here: https://www.racingpost.com/bloodstock/bloodstock-latest/john-dance-chooses-no-nay-never-as-first-cover-for-wonder-filly-laurens/411077
He is PLUS 10 BONUS qualified.
The biggest, breakthrough sire of 2018 and 2019 is No Nay Never, there can be no question of that. He’s the sire of the mighty dual Group 1 winner Ten Sovereigns, Arizona - winner of the Gr.2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, Mystery Power - stylish winner of the Gr.2 Superlative Stakes, Land Force - winner of the Gr.2 Richmond Stakes and Wichita, the recent Group 3 Somerville Tattersalls Stakes, to name but a few of his headline acts!
He is the sire too of our above mentioned Ventura Lightning, so we are beginning to fall in love with the sire. He is currently delivering a mammoth Black type horses to runners’ percentage and a colossal rate of winners to runners. In 5 years’ time, No Nay Never could easily be rivalling the mighty Galileo himself, if he continues on his upward climb.
Our colt, who is quite the most sensational mover (check out his walk video), hails from a very very sharp 2yo family, full of black type 2yo winners. He’s a half-brother to the 78 rated Turbo Command by War Command so you’d hope that proves a fabulous basis for the No Nay Never genes to build on.
We believe this colt represents quite the most exceptional value, having secured him for 65,000gns (Roughly £70,000). Please note that in 2019 the nomination price for a mare to be covered by No Nay Never was €100,000 and in 2020 the price is set to rise to €175,000 no less. So at around £70,000 for a fully-fledged yearling you can see the reasoning for describing our purchase as “exceptional value.” Given his sire’s upwardly mobile profile, should this colt turn out to be quite decent on the track, he could command, a colossal resale value.
Not only is he bred to be a very talented performer, he has the potential to develop into a very sizeable asset too! We’re pretty sure that given his size, scope and fantastic gene pool, he could be a high-class recruit to the MPR ranks in 2020 and beyond.
He has been broken in at the same livery yard, we used to break in the above mentioned VENTURA REBEL last year and NINETYTHREETWENTY the previous year, so there’s every reason to hope that this colt can follow in their illustrious hoof-steps.
