Many of Middleham Park's recent success stories have been with purchases by first season sires, notably our recent Group 1 winner Ventura Storm and the previous season's Group and Listed winning Great Page. Probably our pick or selection of all the year's first season sires would be DABIRSIM, a Group 1 winning 2yo himself who trained on. He won all his first 5 races, with a Group 3 on only his third start, followed by two Group One races; the Prix Morny and the Jean-Luc Lagadere. He hails from a stallion's damsire line and it is often this dynamic which determines a stallion's success at stud. We have two fabulous yearlings by Dabirsim, including this stunning colt, who is out of a King's Best mare.
We weren't hell bent on purchasing a 36th yearling at the Arqana sales in the third week of October, unless we saw a stand out horse. Suffice to say this was the one, he stood head and shoulders in our opinion above anything else that day at the sale and we think he looks outstanding value. He qualifies for 'French premiums.' France is well known for its lucrative system of Owners’ premiums on top of already generous prize-money. On the flat, a 2 or 3 year old can earn an extra 64% on top of the race purse.
We anticipate this horse ultimately proving to be at best over a mile and we couldn't be more thrilled to have both horse and trainer aboard.
