Keith Dalgleish is a very strong candidate for being labelled MPR’s “most successful trainer”, be the measure winners, black type performers, race days, or just general achievement. So, when our final Keith Dalgleish yearling share sold out in December, we’ve been looking to add a further recruit to Keith’s, Carluke string. Success breeds success after all!
We believe we’ve found the perfect addition to our Carluke roster in this fabulous chesnut filly by Footstepsinthesand. The most recent chesnut filly we owned by Footstepsinthesand, was none other than the Group 3 Prix Du Calvados and Nell Gwyn winner and 1000 Guineas runner, SANDIVA.
Then of course, we purchased the 7-time winner MARIE'S DIAMOND, by the same sire, as a yearling too and he amassed £281,905 in prize money. He won a Group 3, placed 2nd in Group 2 company three times, placed 3rd in a Group 1, won two Listed races and a Conditions stakes.
This filly has quite a striking resemblance to Sandiva in actual fact. She’s a fairly early foal (27th February) and you’d imagine she’d be able to make a strong impact on the track, either this Spring, or early Summer. She’s more Sprint bred than middle distance bred, so the early 5f, 6f and 7f nature of 2yo races, ought to be right up her street.
She’s already broken in cantering, in keeping with most 2yo’s this time of year, as you can see from this video. (There is an earlier one in the gallery of her lunging also.)
She’s strong and looks pretty quick. Hopefully here we have another SANDIVA or another success from the Keith Dalgleish and MPR combo, such as Misty Ayr, Clem Fandango, Howzer Black or Miss Bar Beach.
Here she is on the gallops:
