I Was Only Joking
We purchased this filly by HELMET, out of LADY ANGELE (Ski Chief), as a yearling, at the Arqana Deauville Sale. LADY ANGELE her dam, was a very precocious, speedy and tough racehorse. She only competed at 2 years of age, but she certainly made an impact on the track. She raced 7 times but importantly she secured 3 pieces of black type. She was 3rd in a listed race at Longchamp, she won a listed race at Deauville and was 3rd in a Group 3 at Deauville. In fact, the only time she was out of the placings in pattern company was when competing against the colts in the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin.
High quality race mares tend to make high quality broodmares. The owner of Lady Angele attempted to breed from her himself so there has been very few of her progeny through the sales ring to date. It also appears that they may been working on a bit of a budget as the sires she has been sent to so far, aren’t ones you would necessarily have at the top of ones list. You would have to mark her ability as a broodmare up to be able to produce winners from the limited ability of the sires she has been to. She has since been sold to full time breeders and as we see here, was sent to Helmet. He would be the first sire of quality that she has been mated with and will demonstrate just what she is capable of as a mare. Helmet is a sire very much in demand given the speed and quality that he is stamping his stock with. This filly has the beautiful combination of both parents imparting raw, blistering speed into her.
