By the leading first season sire, HAVANA GREY. We have had tremendous success with his progeny this year: Shouldvebeenaring, winner of the Goffs Harry Beeby Premier Yearling Stakes, plus he was the winner of the Listed Ripon Champion 2yo Trophy Stakes - Listed winner Cuban Mistress - Weatherbys Super Sprint winner, Group 3 Prix Eclipse and Listed Windsor Castle Stakes 3rd, Eddie's Boy and Maylandsea, 2nd in the Group 2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and 2nd in the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes. We know how to buy a good Havana Grey!
This filly is 100% GBB BONUS QUALIFIED. Read about this scheme, here.
Tattersalls reported: 'Lot 67: the eye-catching Havana Grey filly sold by Hillwood Stud makes 85,000gns, bought by Middleham Park with Ed Sackville of SackvilleDonald.
"Obviously Havana Grey from this sale has been a recipe for us before so we have tried to repeat it," said Tom Palin of Middleham Park referencing the syndicate's Somerville Sale graduate, Super Sprint winner and Molecomb Stakes (G3) fourth placed Eddie's Boy who cost 45,000gns here last year. "Obviously Havana Grey is a more established sire now than this time last year so we have had to pay more! But this filly is from a family we have followed and bid on a couple before. She is a particular stand-out for the sale and from that pedigree, chuck in a bit of Havana Grey as well!"
Palin added: "She stands out, everyone loves a grey and she is quite fun example. She is a good solid, nice-moving filly and nicest Havana Grey we have seen here. She is a strong horse, too and we saw her on our own and then Ed put her to us. the stars are aligning as such. We will send her to Hugo Palmer, he can train sprinters and you could see her whipping around Chester in the Lily Agnes."
Of progeny by Havana Grey, he said: "They are all ears back, head down, sound horses who keep running for you. We are really taken by them; we got a bit lucky that we stumbled on him at the right time and we threw plenty of Havana Grey darts at the board and come up with 180! They are good honest horses and delighted to get another one."
Born in April, the filly is a half-sister to the four-time winner Show Me Show Me, third in the Molecomb Stakes (G3), and out of the Bertolini mare Springing Baroness. She is a half-sister to Toocoolforschool, winner of the Mill Reef Stakes (G3).'
Here she is, walking at Tattersalls:

Here's the Racing Post Bloodstock review of the sale, with a paragraph about our purchase of this filly: https://www.racingpost.com/bloodstock/sales-news/she-might-be-half-price-hughes-gives-160000gns-for-somerville-sale-top-lot/577392
The same MPR buying team, who bought last year's yearlings have done a great job, with 17 pieces of 2yo black type earned this season-no doubt they have struck gold with this one too! Four of them, by HAVANA GREY!
Training update (December): "She is now completing 2x3 Furlongs canters daily with the tempo starting to increase. She also spends some time in the arena doing some basic flatwork and walks through the stalls on a regular basis. She is a handsome filly and coming along nicely." See a video of her during the early stages below two videos of our group of youngsters cantering with her, in the gallery.
