*From the Goffs Premier Yearling Sale 2022 - the best Sale of the season for 2yo’s. The sale where we purchased our Group 1 winner and Champion European 2yo 2013; TOORMORE (£36,000), Group 2 winner VENTURA TORMENTA and dual Group 2 winner KOOL KOMPANY (£40,000)*
SIRE: LAND FORCE (No Nay Never)
DAM: AVESSIA (Averti)
TRAINER: Archie Watson.
Tim says: “He’s a beauty, a real smasher. By a very fast stallion, that we remember only too well from his Richmond Stakes victory at Goodwood (touched off our very own Marie’s Diamond). Out of a very fast, proven mare. Could be another Eddie’s Boy.”
Watch his walk here:
Likely to be a first half of the season sort with very much one eye on Royal Ascot, where we managed to have a number of 2yo runners this year including the Queen Mary 2nd (Maylandsea) and the Windsor Castle 3rd (Eddie's Boy.)
He qualifies for the £300,000 Goffs Harry Beeby Premier Yearling Stakes; a race, that we won this year with our £40,000 purchase Shouldvebeenaring. He earned £122,000 in winning that day, at York’s Ebor Festival and his owners won a £47,000 voucher to spend on a ‘free’ horse at this year’s Sale too.
This colt also qualifies for races like the £250,000 Weatherby’s Super Sprint, held at Newbury in July, a race we won this season with our 45,000gns yearling purchase Eddie’s Boy (trained by Archie.) Furthermore, they will qualify for Redcar’s £250,000 2yo Trophy, which we’ve won in the past with Ventura Mist, and the £300,000 Weatherby’s Insurance Sales race, held at Doncaster in September could easily be on this horse’s agenda too.
A sharp and racy sort, we’d hope to debut in April or May, with Royal Ascot in mind, hopefully. Then, all being well, on to Sales races and Group races. However, failing that, we’d go on to look at nursery handicaps at, hopefully, the main, summer festivals, where our silks are regularly seen.
We’ve a proven track record of delivering, year in, year out, and we’d hope a fair number of our Goffs UK purchases can deliver on the highest stage, again in 2023.
The same MPR buying team, who bought last year's yearlings have done a great job, with 18 pieces of 2yo black type earned this season and no doubt they have struck gold with this one too!
Training update (25th November): He is doing very well in his training with Archie. He sent us the video update of our colt this morning, shown below......
