Purchased from the Arqana Vente 2 Sale, which provided 2 Classic winners in 2018, this colt is by DREAM AHEAD. Read more about his sire here: http://www.harasdegrandcamp.com/etalons/indexdreamahead.html

Since sending our first yearling to Mark Johnston just 3 years ago, Ventura Knight, we’ve experienced nothing but success, with Ventura Knight winning 7 races and being rated a career high of 104. On the back of that, we sent Mark the subsequent Listed, Group 3 winning and Group 2 placed Marie’s Diamond. In fact, every horse we have had race with Mark has been a winner and we see no reason why anything should change with this year’s Mark Johnston yearling cohort!

The sire Dream Ahead has been a rich vein of success for Mark, most notably in last year’s Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and we believe this loose moving, athletic son of the well-established sire, offers us the opportunity to potentially, tap into racing at the highest level in 2020. Our colt, hails from a fantastic dam’s family which includes 14 listed and Group performers no less. He’s out of a winning ARAAFA mare; Araafa won the Irish 2000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in his illustrious career.

This colt looks every inch a 2yo for 2020, but he could just as easily stay a mile as a 3yo as Mark tends to be able to produce top class 2yo’s that train on throughout their careers. His sibling, Fox Tin, started over 7 furlongs and won 5 races up to 1m 4f, so it looks like the Dam is an influence for stamina, but Dream Ahead should speed things up on the Sire’s side - but we’ll get more of gauge when Mark ups his workload. If a potentially top class 2yo is what you are looking, then this colt looks just the ticket.

He qualifies for French Owner Premiums, which adds 64% to all earnings achieved on French soil, so we will clearly have one eye on opportunities across the Channel should they arise.

Sire update (19th October): Racing Post Bloodstock reported - "Donjuan Triumphant gains a deserved first Group 1 success on his 37th start in the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes. He is a third top-level winner for Dream Ahead (pictured), after Al Wukair and Glass Slippers Sire also supplied third home at Ascot, Forever In Dreams." (Donjuan Triumphant was purchased as a 2 year old by Middleham Park Racing for 30,000 guineas at the Craven breeze-up sale.)

It was good to see his half-brother, Lexington Force, win impressively for us on debut yesterday. The mare is showing that she can produce some decent horses so let’s hope the Dream Ahead Colt follows suit. Watch the replay of that win here: https://www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/the-racing/race-replays/#100_profit_boost_at_32redsport_com_novice_stakes
