Purchased at the Goffs UK Breeze Up Sale, this colt is by Coolmore stallion, FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND. Following on from our successes with both SANDIVA & MARIE’S DIAMOND (both progeny of the mighty FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND) we’re delighted to add this son of the World-renowned sire. The sire of 69 Group/Stakes winners.
In a Breeze Up race of 2.3f of around 182 horses, on Town Moor Doncaster, earlier this week, he managed to finish 3rd overall over the first 2f of the Breeze, or 5th overall if you include the 75 yards of the gallop out too. Furthermore, the majority of the fastest timed horses, tended to race down the centre of the track, which widely renowned, on the day, as the Golden Highway. Our colt was much nearer to the stands’ rail than was ideal, slightly away from the quickest strip of ground. So, he’s been disadvantaged by that aspect too, a tad.
It wouldn’t be at all a surprise if you could mark up his overall finishing positions of 3rd and 5th, by a place (or two, in the latter’s case). Furthermore, his fastest furlong was a mere 1/100th of a second slower than that of the overall fastest timer, a Twilight Son filly who sold for £360,000. She ended the day the 2nd most expensive sold. Our Footstepsinthesand colt, actually finished the course in 7/100ths of a second (that’s more than half a length, in terms of distance) ahead of the sale topping, £500,000 Harry Angel colt, which is a mightily impressive feat!
Watch his breeze, here:
A hammer price of £52,000 (before Sale’s House commissions and other ancillary costs on the day) looks an absolute steal.
Watch his profile video, here:
He has settled in really well back in Malton and the videos we’ve received this morning of him being ridden, show him off as being really light on his feet and with a great fluent movement. He looks a high class individual, which you’d expect, given the lofty price tags of his Breeze Ups contemporaries l, and dare we say, inferiors.
We can’t stress enough how we’re of the genuine belief that he represents, at this stage anyway, the very best value in the sale. He’s a good sized colt, with a great stride, and attitude too, it would appear, and he’s quite an oil painting too.
He’s qualifies for races in Band B, C & D initially. He’ll be ready to run, in a matter of days/weeks, this side of Royal Ascot, we’d like to believe and maybe dream about.
