Displaying Amber, a daughter of Showcasing who is the sire of our own Listed winner DE BRUYNE HORSE as well as Group 1 winner Quiet Reflection, is just starting to get her career into full stride.
We ran her three times as a 2yo in 2017, just to earn a handicap mark, very much with her future in mind. On handicap debut at Newcastle in January she was slightly taken off her feet early over the sharp 5f, she had previously raced over 6f, but she stayed on very very strongly to the line to finish 3rd, beaten just over a length.
As the Racing Post say, she was "held up pushed along 3 out, ridden and ran on well final furlong." They went on to say in their analysis "Displaying Amber was the big eyecatcher."
She's a ready made winner, waiting to happen, that's there for all to see. A step up to 6 or even 7f over the summer month's of her still embryonic 3yo career and we could see her rattling up a few wins. The very least she will do is run regularly and be competitive, but her trainer Ben Haslam believes she has a fair few pounds in hand. Physically she is a great moving, quite tall filly who will progress as she fills out through the summer.
Trainer update (27th May): Last time out, she ran a great race to be 3rd. Sylvestre de Sousa got off and said she needs 6f and then she should win.
