Purchased at the Goffs Orby Sale, this filly is by the fabulous DECLARATION OF WAR - one of the most underrated sires around. He is the sire of the classic winning OLMEDO for Jean~Claude Rouget in France as well as a number of other Group and listed winners, from a very small cohort of horses, to date. It’s possible that he remains underrated over here, because many of his best winning progeny just happen to have raced in Europe and in the USA; his progeny are very versatile on both the turf and the AW. A son of the mighty War Front, who Coolmore are desperately keen to introduce into their Galileo mares, stands at a fee $25,000 at Ashford Stud, Kentucky. On the track, Declaration Of War was imperious in his victory in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot followed by a further Group 1 success in the Juddmonte International at York, came his way, later that season. He’s a dual Group 1 winner and progressed fantastically well, throughout his career.
Furthermore, this filly is out of a mare by the Champion Montjeu (a son of Sadler’s Wells, as is Galileo) who is a half-sister to the CHAMPION French filly Covert Love, as well as the Hong Kong Champion, Designs On Rome. To have 3 Champions in the pedigree of a Middleham Park yearling is quite unprecedented and we really hope the classic winning, producing genes of this filly’s stallion, combined with the trio of champions from her dam’s side, could unearth, a high-class individual for 2020 and 2021. We hope this filly may be up to competing on one of the fillies’ classics in 2021.
We couldn’t be more delighted to have her on board. Her vendor Eddie O’Leary of Lynn Lodge Stud, from whom we also purchased Group 1 QEII Stakes winner Donjuan Triumphant for 30,000gns, was eulogising about this filly and her racing prospects. We believe she will particularly suit the Marco Botti regime, she looks just the perfect fit for Marco’s, Prestige Place.
We’d doubt she’ll be a sharp and early 2yo, but once races of 7f and beyond open up from July onwards, we can see this beautiful, loose moving filly, hitting the track and hopefully, very successfully, too!

Training Update (22nd January): She has settled in well to the Newmarket training regime and she is cantering every day. Marco is particularly pleased with her and describes her as "a lovely scopey filly, with a great temperament. She is a very elegant filly and has a bit of quality about her." We look forward to seeing her at our stable visit in February!
