Our first visit to the SGA sales arena in San Siro, Italy, sees us come away with our favourite horse of the sale. We've had to dig quite deep, by paying €75,000, but we feel it is money well spent. The sale contains Italy's Premier Bloodstock and we very much hope that we have unearthed a golden nugget from this slightly less than fashionable sale, as we did with Tigre Du Terre and Boitron from the Osarus Sales in France last year and the year before.
This fabulous colt is a wonderful individual. He's a great size and has some real substance to him too and is as good a mover as you could wish to see (please see a video of his walk on this page.)
He's by the top class racehorse Raven's Pass, who won the Breeders' Cup Classic, as well as the QE II and the St James' Palace stakes. He's putting Group 1 genes into our imposing colt-read more about him here: https://www.darleyeurope.com/stallions/our-stallions/ravens-pass. Our dam, by the speed influence Oasis Dream, comes from a Group 1 family and is a half sister to the black type performer Orange Sun. She has already produced the very classy 2yo filly SUMMER DAYDREAM, who performed to 88 on debut as a 2yo for Keith Dalgleish having cost just €6,500 and followed up with a fantastic performance in the Group 3 Firth of Clyde at the Ayr Western meeting, going on to win the Listed 2 year old trophy.
We'd very much hope that our colt can prove to be a high class racehorse for 2019, 2020 and beyond. He could well be gracing the turf of all the big festivals around Great Britain and Europe too.
Syndicate manager update (April 2020): He did everything but win on racecourse debut, just missing out in a ding dong finish, on the nod, with him and the winner, pulling 7 lengths clear of the John Gosden favourite and the Tom Dascombe horse, who had previously finished 4th in the Moorstyle Convivial, at York’s Ebor Meeting. Timeform have awarded him an 86p which stamps him as a hugely exciting individual. He’s highly regarded amongst the Hannon team, so it should be onwards and upwards with him this season. A very promising individual.
