Purchased at the Tattersalls August Horses In Training Sale from the John Gosden draft, this son of the mighty Derby and Arc winner, GOLDEN HORN: https://www.darleyeurope.com/stallions/our-stallions/golden-horn; out of a Listed winning mare, has genes to die for.
He has clearly been slow to come to hand, being an unraced 3yo, but he’s proven a stuffy horse to date, who’s just not quite come to himself in time to have full a 2yo, or 3yo career. Our Newmarket contacts have suggested that his homework displays a very, very high level of latent ability, but given the very high and exacting standards of his previous connections, he’s just not quite made the cut, to continue their association with him for the remainder of his 3yo and subsequent 4yo career. We’ve been delighted to step in to acquire him at, what we believe is, the perfect time, to start to reap rewards.
Possibilities with Brackish are endless, but the essence of our involvement with him, would be to race him, enjoy him and then trade him, either through a private sale, or through the sale’s ring. Our preferred option would be to develop him into a 90/100 rated individual in the middle distance or staying divisions, winning very decent handicaps along the way and then moving him on, by way of selling him to Australia, for instance. Option 2 would be to ply our trade in middle distance handicaps, achieving ratings in the 70’s/80’s where he would be of great appeal to the jumping fraternity, trading him for, in excess of his 16,000gns purchase price from Godolphin. Failing Option 1 or 2, we could race him in, and hopefully win a National Hunt Flat Race (bumper) and sell him on at that point. There are plenty of routes we can travel, whilst enjoying his races and racing career, along the way.
He’s a very exciting racing project, and best-case scenario, there could, just possibly, be a shrewd financial angle to him too.
