Put simply this horse was a bargain. He was bought from the Tattersalls Ireland sale at the back end of September. He is a lovely horse with an outstanding pedigree and is Plus 10 Bonus qualified.
Footstepsinthesand is a consistent producer of winners who operates at around a 50% strike rate for winners to runners. As a racehorse, Footstepsinthesand was unbeaten, running over distances varying from 6f-1m. His finest hour came at Newmarket in the 2000 Guineas, which he won by 1 1/4 lengths from Rebel Rebel. Similarly, he has a fantastic record as a stallion, siring plenty of 100+ rated horses and even a few that were rated 120+ in their prime. His progeny are always very popular at the sales with the average price in excess of 30,000 Guineas. Read more about his sire here: https://coolmore.com/stallions/footstepsinthesand
In the case of this colt not only is he from a standout stallion, he also out of a standout mare. Clodovina was an Aga Khan owned horse from a fantastic family. She is half-sister to the stallion Clodovil and also Colombian a very high-class performer for John Gosden. On the track, Clodovina was a good horse in her own right winning on debut and finishing 2nd in a listed race at Maisons-Laffitte. She has passed her ability on to her progeny as well with 2 winners from 3 runners, including Canndal a horse that placed 2nd in the Group 1 Belmont Derby International.
One thing you can be sure of is he is in the right yard to bring out the best in him, after all Mark has produced some fantastic results with our very own MARIE'S DIAMOND, by the same sire!
FREE LEASE SHARE OPTION:
Here's probably the most sensible and easily affordable route into racehorse ownership. We can offer a free lease into this colt, as well as full ownership options! A fantastically affordable and almost instant foray into the ownership ranks, a free lease option means that there is nothing to pay up front to join the syndicate, just our usual, regular monthly lease payment as with any other shareholding with us.
The perfect opportunity for a first-time owner, looking to dip their toe into racehorse ownership; inexpensive to be part of, whilst still high on expectations. You just pay a monthly training fee instead of buying a full share and paying an amount upfront. Lease owners receive all our usual MPR ownership benefits (see below), with the exception of, as you would expect, a percentage of future resale value of the horse or race winning trophies; given that your syndicate association is a lease hold share. However, given there's no initial outlay of funds to join the syndicate, that's a perfectly fair quid pro quo, we'd suggest.
Here's what lessees of a horse benefit from:
- full race day complimentary owners’ badge entitlements (the quantity dependant on the % shareholding e.g. one badge with 2.5% and two badges with 5%)
- receipt of all prize money earned (commensurate with percentage shareholding)
- full owners’ updates from the syndicate manager
- full access to our newsletters and offers
- full entitlements to stable visits and events.
Trainer Update (13th August): He’s in fast work now, and in the final throes of his preparation for the track. He’s bred to be a progressive 2yo and 3yo, and his career is almost ready to be thrust onto the racetrack. We can’t wait!
Mark has entered him in the €300,000 6f Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes (Plus 10 Race), on Sunday 15th September at The Curragh.
