BY THE SIRE OF HAVANA GREY..

Richard Hannon Jnr: “We’ve not had one move as well him, around here, for years. He’s the best moving horse of the whole sales’ season, bar none”.

Ross Doyle: “Richard and myself both agreed we weren’t going to go home without this colt.”

If those sorts of quotes don’t get your ownership juices flowing, then, we’re not sure what will!

At MPR we weren’t especially looking to add a further Richard Hannon yearling to our roster, however, when Richard rang to recommend we check this stunning colt out and to take a serious look at what he felt was an exceptional horse, we took no time at all to agree to purchase him - the hammer went down, as it were, immediately.

However, don’t just take our, Ross’ or Richard’s recommendations alone - check out his video and photo for yourself and peruse his pedigree too (attached)

Watch his walk at Herridge, here:

Havana Gold, during his racing times, was actually trained by Richard Hannon Snr to win the French 2000 Guineas and he is, of course, the sire of the Group 1 winning stallion sensation HAVANA GREY, who is fast becoming an elite sire, including being the sire of VANDEEK and our very own SHOULDVEBEENARING.

This colt’s pedigree is double pronged, however. He has an elite sire and a dam who is a DANSILI daughter of the Champion Cheveley Park mare INTERVAL. She’s already produced 2 BLACK TYPE performers, including a black type full brother to this colt, who cost a mere 20,000gns. He was early enough to debut over 5f, in the April of his 2yo career so there’s plenty of precocity in the genes and of course more quality about this colt too.

We’d very much hope, our colt could seriously supersede his sibling’s, on the track exploits, not that they were too shabby in themselves, in performing to a black type level. Bred to be an April, May or June 2yo debutant, he’s every inch a potentially top-class horse in the making and where better to have a son of Havana Gold in training, than Richard Hannon and the wonderful Herridge Racing Stables?

He just oozes class, class, class - his 100,000gns hammer price hints at just how good he could be!

*Pedigree Update: Monday 21 August: Half-brother: LEGIONARIO (GB) (2016 c. by Toronado (IRE)), won 14 races at 3 to 7 years, 2023 in France and abroad and £87,834.

Training update (21st March): Richard says: "He's coming along well; working away with the other 2-year-olds. I haven't asked any questions of any of the juveniles yet - April is the time for that. He moves well, plus he is a lovely looking colt. We won’t rush him going forward, he looks like a May/June type. We know the family and think he should get a mile eventually."  His race entries/declarations, will show on this page. (He has an 'early closing' race entry already in for later in his 2yo career.)
