One Giant Leap!

Wed 15 Dec 2021

WINNER 103 OF 2021: LEAP ABROAD, trained by Paul and Oliver Cole & ridden by Mohammed Tabti (-7): 'The Watch Racing Free Online At Coral Nursery' over 6f at Newcastle.

He has placed 2nd in his last two runs and had clearly been an eye catcher, so the market had him chalked up as favourite. Drawn in 14, on the inner, he broke quickly and forged to the front. Mohammed sat quietly and as we watched horses in behind come off the bridle, he was coasting! When asked to continue his effort, he went clear from 1f out, to win comfortably by 3 and 1/4 lengths.

Timeform rated it as a career best performance, commenting: "Has done well since switching to nurseries and proved much too good having been allowed to stride on this time; made all, travelled fluently, quickened clear over 1f out, kept on well, had plenty in hand; will remain of interest.”

Mohammed said in his Sky Sports Racing interview: "He is a very nice horse  and liked the AW track. He jumped very well from the stalls and I just let him go!”

Syndicate manager Mike says: "Well done to his owners on his win yesterday and thank you to the team at Whatcombe. He took another step forward and won with authority in the end. The way the race panned out there was no chance to get any cover and I have to admit to thinking that he's doing too much, mid- race, but stamina came into play in the final furlong and he was strong through the line. After a couple of near misses, it was good to see him get his head in front!"

After our latest three runners on the flat, all placed 2nd, it was a relief to see a 1st place on the board! Even better, is that we matched our best ever yearly winners total of 103, now we are aiming for the British syndicate record!
